 In honor of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month make an effort to learn more about the
 current status of school-based physical activity and education. Attend the Meeting of the
 
 Improve your physical health through participation in DC Yoga Week May 15-21, 2011, where
 you can attend free and $5 yoga classes.
 
 Want to learn how to use social marketing to plan nutrition, physical activity, and obesity
 prevention programs?  Attend the Social Marketing: Nutrition and Physical Activity course held
 online through the CDC.

 According to the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, since 1983, May has
 been observed as National Physical Fitness and Sports month. The warm weather
 certainly   helps! In the spirit of physical fitness, we took a look at the Washington
 Running Report’s featured list of upcoming races. A few of their selections, for runners at
 varying levels, are listed below:

 Celebrate Your Health 

 Employee Health and Fitness Month - Encourage your office to get active during National Employee Health and  Fitness Month (EHFM). The goal of EHFM is to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle to employers and their   
 employees through worksite health promotion activities and environments.

 

 National Women's Health Week - Get empowered to make your health a priority during National Women's Health  Week. Running May 8 - 14, this celebration encourages women of all ages to take steps to improve their physical and  mental health and lower their risks of certain diseases.
 

 What’s Happening?

What's Happening Passport DC Explore the international cultures DC has to offer throughout the entire month of May.  The event features street festivals, open houses, embassy events, special performances, and much  more.

 
 Enjoy the spring weather May 14-15 by attending the Bethesda Fine Arts Festival. The festival  highlights 140 contemporary artists, offers live entertainment, and Bethesda’s best restaurants.
 
 Don’t miss the chance to enjoy Arlington County’s finest flavors at, Taste of Arlington, Sunday May 22. While you are  enjoying the live entertainment and noteworthy restaurants, a portion of your ticket cost will be going to three  Virginia charities.
